I think they can't do anything with this because they don't have solution right now. You can read about Asus notbooks with the exact same problem. All of them 6th generation intels. The problem not related only for models with realtek card but it will be good to know which owner have which brand of wlan module.

I have Realtek 8723BE so don't know. I would like to see a soultion because nobody want millions of warning and self reseting wlan modules...

Yesterday I have updated the Realtek network adapters drivers from the Automatic Update in DeviceManager, and the WHEA error didn't come up anylonger.

The Wifi connection was hanging, and the system wouldn't reboot but with the switch-off botton.

The first event after the ID17 is Event ID 10001-WLAN-AutoConfig:

WLAN Extensibility Module has successfully started.

Module Path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\Rtlihvs.dll

I don't have luck with driver updates like may others have.

Here is driver what can reduce the error rate: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp74001-74500/sp74139.exe

But probably the error will occur everytime when you restart your pc, except if you shutdown and power on again.

If you have the HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop, that has two graphics options.

After speaking to HP support, the problem seems to be that the laptop has two graphics, Intel chip and a Nivida graphics card, the problem is an Intel one, first thing that was done is in the device manager, on the intel driver, do a driver update via device manager and select search online.

then in the nvidia control panel under the 3d settings, there is an option that has automatic, click on the drop down menu and select the Nvidia as the main option.

my understanding of the problem is that when playing games windows will use the Nivida Graphics Card, when doing normal things like browsing the internet or using an office program the PC will use Intel, but the reason that the display drivers crashes is when Nvidia hands back the graphics role back to Intel it crashes the display driver.

what has been done is basically the PC will ignore the Intel Graphics and just use Nivdia card.

I re-booted my device while HP support were still on the phone, and still get the WHEA-Logger logged in the event viewer straight away.

i am going to be run the laptop through the test via playing games (Sim City) and see if i get the display driver crash if i do i am be calling HP back.

The problem is not really with graphics modul, but it depends on your error message details. Most of us have problem that indicated with wlan modul's id. But any tip will be handy! Thank you. I'm looking for your test results.

@GabeCrash,

i have been getting that error, and then the display crash but in regards to the WLAN module, what has been done to solve or attempt to resolve this issue.

as i do have the problem, were the laptop struggles to connect to older routers.

@gabecrash, unticked the "allow computer to turn off device to save power" still getting the error message, after further research i belvive that the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 is the problem, but will do further tests, over the weekend in regards to the Gaphics to rule them out as well.

Thumbs up to ASUS Support! They told me the same things that I wrote them in my letter: "re-install Windows, update new drivers, update BIOS. If nothing helps, please visit service center". Of course nothing helped because as I figured out the solution of this problem is hinged on new Intel chipset drivers or BIOS updates. But we wont see these updates soon.

I brought my asus x555ub back to the store and got refunded. No more skylakes for me.

well done ASUS giving you your money back, i have been looking into this, from what i have found it seems to be the Intel Dual Band Wireless, is the problem, my graphics just masked the problem, i have contacted Intel Support direct to see exactly what they say.

As i dont think that we will get an answer out of HP as i dont think Intel have told HP the answer.

i will reply to this thread to see what Intel say.
