My hard drive has been replaced and it works just fine. I am getting a beeping noise but it is not an error beeping noise from my laptop. The error message I get is: Error Code: Hard Disk 1 (3F1) Primary Hard Disk Self Test QuickTest #1000B-Replace Hard Disk.

If the hard drive passes the smart test but the error 3f1 continues to appear occasionally that I can do?

I have read your post on how your computer is displaying an error message in regards to your hard drive, and I would be happy to assist you in this endeavor!

 

According to this document on System Diagnostics for your notebook, the error message occurs from the Boot Device Manager. What this means is that, while the Operating System is unaffected by this error, the computer detects the Hard Disk 1 Error 3F1 in the UEFI as a potential problem in the future.

 

With this being said, I strongly recommend backing up the files on your computer, and obtaining a replacement hard drive for when this event occurs.

I get this message every so often

 

I have run the disk tests many times and nothing is wrong.

 

I have replaced disk 1 twice.

 

I still get this message every few months.

 

How do I know the HP utility is not at fault?

I have read your post on how this message appears often, even after replacing a hard drive and running disk tests, and I would be happy to help you!

 

The first step I recommend is to follow this document on Using Windows 7, how do I run CHKDSK? or How to Scan & Fix Hard Drives with CHKDSK in Windows 8. This should help to check for hard drive errors, and repair them for Windows 7 or 8. Once updated, please use the HP Support Assistant (for Windows 7 or Windows 8) to ensure that all of your system's drivers are up to date.

I'm also experiencing this, but in my case, the drive was upgraded.

 

DV-4270US, original drive waa ST9640320AS 640gb. It was getting full so I upgraded to  ST1000LM014, 1TB hydrid.

 

The drive passed the HP diagnostic, as well as the SeaTools for DOS short and long tests. Upgrading the drive firmware from SM15 to SM16 did not help. Because of this, Seagate hasn't offered to replace the 4 month old drive.

 

Seagate is telling me the problem is either with the laptop's SATA controller or BIOS.

 

I do have one diagnostic tool still available, if it comes to that. The current drive has been cloned back to the original. When it is no longer useful to have the hybrid drive running, I could reinstall the original to see if the symptoms persist. 

 

This is NOT something I want to do.

My call was incomplete due to them not being able to hear me, but enough was said to steer me toward the diagnostics provided by flashing LEDs.

 

The next time an error occurs, I'll see if the LEDs are blinking.

 

However, it is unlikely I would be able to afford to repair a 4+ year old laptop.

this is a shame that the HP technician can not answer properly. The problem remained in its inputs for CD rome, try demonetere cd rom and start without cd rom.

It means your HP hard drive failed. Faulty product!!! So many having this very same issue. i just got off phone with Zhp case manager a d at first they wanted me to send laptop back and pay $300 to fix it! Ridiculous i paid $300 for it on sale at Christmas from Walmart! Actually bought two alike and only have this one failing. Manager at Hp then offered me to pay $150 to fix their faulty product!!!! oh yeah btw the adaptor cord over heating is on a recall list as well!!!! I am a photographer who has bought a total of 5 Zhp brand new laptops in the past two years for useage and gifts for my teenagers!! Doyou think Hp cared? No!!! I vow to spread the word to everyone! Poor customer service!!!!
Company does not stand behind their products!!! Looks like Dell will be getting my future business!!!!
