i have pavilion dv6 7040tx . recently i installed windows 8 pro 32 .
when i take system properties it shows
installed memory (RAM): 8 GB (usable 2.41)
what can be the problem ?
i upgraded the bios to f.24 but it shows 960 mb of ram usable so i upgraded back to F.0A and result is 2.41 gb of ram is usable ?

I have similar problem with my HP ProBook 6570b. I upgraded preinstaled W7PRO to W8PRO and by then the computer is not usable at all... Whenever I turn on airplane mode (battery saving reason) or hibernate computer I am not able to start wifi adapter until next reboot. I can solve this problem by reinstalling wifi drivers also.
Anyhow when reinstaling drivers computer freezes quite often. That results in atleast one hard restart of a computer a day. I didnt find any solution.
I would appreciate any help because this is getting me desperate and angry.

I had a similar problem with my dv6 7012tx. i lost my wifi after upgrade to win8 x64. i had to remove battery and hold the power button 4 some time whenever i needed wifi. But after updating to f.26 bios the problem was solved. check your drivers page

My DV6-7003sp is now working after having installed the F.26 bios and taking out the battery and disconnecting from power and pressing power button for a while and reseting bios settings
This didnt work the first time but now the button is working when I presss it connects or disconnects the airplane mode (of course I had to install the F12 key update for windows 8), its not exacly as in windows 7 but it works.
