You might be suffering from a BIOS problem which HP describes in this customer letter:

Document Id: c03263577

PC Does Not Display Any Graphics Data or Cannot Power On

There is no fix for the 4x30s series yet since HP hasn't released any new BIOS for these models after March 30 2012 (yet).

HP doesn't specify which BIOS versions that are affected but several models suffers from the same issue. Read the HP customer advisory document link above for details.

finally got solution for this problem

follow these steps:

1-turn off the notebook

2-remove the battery

3-remove the charging adapter

4-Now press and hold the power button for 40 seconds(it will discharge the capacitors)

5-now insert the charging adapter only(dont insert the battery)

6-now press the power button

7-let the windows load and then shutdown it

8-now insert the battery and press the power button

problem solved 🙂

if this doesnt solve the problem then 1st update your bios to latest version and then follow the above steps

best of luck

The 40-second trick worked! HP Compaq 6510b - I tried a BIOS update a few months ago. No luck. Tried different power supplies, even two different batteries. No luck. I've been able to use it and charge the battery ONLY from ONE of my two docks, with the attendant power supply with the smaller power connector. Dock with the larger power connector wouldn't work, nor would a power supply with the larger connector plugged right into the laptop case.

Found a gazillion other references to pulling the battery and dead-keying the power switch for 5 or 10 seconds. No luck. For some reason, that HP c03263577 solution is GONE. You can even search for it by number on the web site, it'll return a link to it (same link as posted above), but when you follow the link, it's 404 <shrug>. So, nothing to lose but 40 seconds of my evening, I tried the full 40 seconds dead-key, plugged the power supply into the side of the notebook, hit the power button an she roared to life!

I was sure I had either a bad solder connection on the mobo, or a series of cursed power converters. I was starting to shop for a replacement machine when a search brought me here. I went to the trouble of registering here just to say THANK YOU to whoever posted the 40-second discharge idea.
