The things that may be hapening to your laptop:

1)when you insert battery to your laptop the hp probook 4530s the charging light blinks orange and white.

2)upon turning the laptop there is no display but only the power light, capslock light and the wifi light blinks/turns on.

3)when you put the laptop to charging still nothing happens and the charging light keeps blinking.

Now the problem with your laptop is a BIOS problem. The HP probook 4530s has a manufucturer defect in this laptop bios version or the BIOS chip. Now the coincidence is that just today i retrieved my laptop from the HP warranty services as my laptop which is HP probook 4530s 😛 had exactly the same problem. Now as my laptop was still in warranty it was repaired free of cost by HP.They replaced its BIOS chip.

Now what you can do is:

1) claim your warranty if it is still in warranty

2)replace your BIOS chip from a professional private laptop repairer.

One professional laptop repairer i know said to me that to avoid any BIOS chip problems do not put your laptop to sleep for so long times...just make it sleep when you have to come back in 15 minutes or so..

THE CHARGING LIGHT BLINKING PROBLEM FOR ANY LAPTOP IS A BIOS PROBLEM.

Pleasure helping you 🙂

This totally worked on the same problem that I had with a Probook 6560b. Was afraid it was a motherboard issue, and this is the only site with a solution that didn't involve replacing the MB. Thanks a TON!

Our private school recently received 20 brand new HP 4530s units. Within the first 5 hours of use, one of them developed the same problem and last week two more units showed same symptoms. The first unit, I attempted to troubleshoot without contacting HP. Big mistake! When I removed the DRAM module, the spring clip holding it broke very easily, as if it was already damaged from the factory. When I shipped the unit to HP for repair of the power problem under warranty, I was refused and told that the warranty was voided due to the DRAM slot being broken. HP wanted $199.86 to replace mother board and DRAM slot. The unit is now sitting useless in our school closet. I may purchase a used mb soon and take my chances. By the way, the laptop sat in my hot car for a couple hours last week. I brought it inside and connected the AC power. It booted right up and a successful BIOS update screen flashed. I was able to use the computer and update software as usual for it, for a few hours. (The DRAM module worked flawlessly in the damaged slot.) After shutting it down, it returned to the intermittent flashing amber/white lights and has not been able to power up since. The two units that failed last week are now at HP for warranty repair. One of these units displayed the exact same amber/white flashing/unable to boot up. The other unit, when plugged in and attempting to turn on,  is in a continuous loop of 8 flashes of the caps lock light/shut down/reboot. I am hoping if some or all of the other 17 units are going to have this trouble, it will occur before the warranty expires the end of next month.

to follow up on this problem...

HP (in Memphis) replaced motherboards on two of the units under warranty. As for the 4530s that was initially refused for warranty repair, I spent nearly three hours on the phone with various HP support personnel before they finally relented. This unit was also sent to Memphis, per my request (the initial refusal came from their Houston facility). The repair documentation listed "replacement of switch cover" with no mention of motherboard.

Even though I am in Hawai'i, the units were returned repaired within 4 days of shipping them out to HP. Awesome!!!  Mahalo HP for fine customer support! All is well.

Fix

Just fix this issue today. Had to disaasemble the laptop to get to the power supply connector. I determined there was a short and bad connection. Some solder and electrical tape later and I have a working laptop again.

Symptoms were:

Battery installed, blinking orange light, no power up on button press. Orange light mocks you 8 times per power button press.

Battery removed, blinking orange light, no power up on button press. Orange light mocks you 8 times per power button

Synopsis

This had nothing to do with a bios upgrade as mentioned in other posts. It was an elecetrical short.

Reuired black electrical  tape, acid free solder, a lot of time, nerves of a surgeon, and the sheer will of ten ninjas dancing on nuclear warheads in a North Korean sweatshop.

Result

Working device.

Notes:

Get a good Torx set and jewelers set of screwdrivers. The screws have standard blue locktite on them, apply pressure, but dont strip them.

This is marginally helpful as is shows you how to appropriately do bad touches to the 4530s unit.
