I have an HP Pavillion HPE h8z. When I received it a free Internet Download Manager was installed. There was a 30 day free trial period. Some time after the free trial period expired I deleted the program. The program is no longer listed in the programs on the computer. My problem is  that a message started to appear on screen stating that the free period was over and to either purchase or delete the program. Anytime I attempt to download a PDF file the message reappears and will not allow me to continue with the download. I have tied everything that I know to do to eliminate this "bug" with no luck. Any suggestions?

That's quite alright.
We'll pick it up tomorrow again.

Once you get a  minute or two, please try restarting the unit and downloading files from the internet again, just to check if you managed to get the .dll file in check.

Hello IronMike2,

On their official site, they link to a removal tool that you can use in case the software isn't removed by the uninstall feature in windows.

Please download, and try the following removal tool:
http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/commerce/Uninstall.exe

I found it on their own website:
http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/register/new_faq/functions7.html

Let me know how that works out for you.

I tried this but the message came on again and would not allow me to download.

Could you try and click the link again, but this time hold CTRL down while left clicking it?
That shold prevent it from popping up, so that you can remove it with the tool.

Tried the Control button but the message still comes up and prevents a download.

Hello again,

I'll need to know which browser (and version) you're using, so that I can tell you how you remove the extension that I suspect it's installed within your browser.

Hello again,

Please try the following.

  1.  Open up Internet Explorer
  2.  Click the Tools button (looks like a gear) and click "Manage add-ons".
  3.  On the middle left side of the window, you should see a "Show:" message, with a dropdown menu below it. Please select "All add-ons".
  4.  Look through the list, and find "IDM", "IDMan" or "Internet Download Manager" on the list, then right click it and press "Deactivate".
  5.  Close the window, and try to download a file again.
Best regards,

I tried and there is nothing that remotely looks like Internet Download  Manager or an abbreviation for it.

Hello again,

Alright, it was worth a try.
Could you please try and go into the task manager and close the process named "idman.exe" if it's there.

If it's there and you've closed it, then try and download the uninstaller from one of my previous posts in this thread again.

Best regards,
Kyte
