It says it maybe running in another file or program.

Hello again,

Good, now we're onto something!
We're gonna need to run a command to unregister the dll file, so that we may delete it.

However in order to prepare the command for you that you have to enter, I need you to give me the full path to where you found the file. (as I'm unsure whether it was in the "Programs (x86)" folder or the "Programs" folder.)

Once inside the directory where you can see the .dll file, please click the long white "address" bar near the top of the window, and copy the path to this thread.

Then I'll instruct you how to unregister the file.

Best regards,
Kyte

It was in the program file x86.

I went back into thed program x86 file and clicked on Internet Download Manager. There were numerous files with idm in them. I was able to delte all of them except these two;

IDMNetMon.dll  and IDMShellExt64.dll

Alright, let's see what we can do then.

First of all, press Windows key +R
Now, in the Run window, please type the following command into the field named "Open".

  • regsvr32 /u C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Download Manager\IDMIECC.dll

Double check that it's all entered as written above, and press enter.
Now the .dll file should be successfully unregistered.

So if you did not receive any error message, you need to go into the directory again, and attempt to delete the file again.
Let me know how it works out.

Best regards,
Kyte

Ok, I put both adresses into the box you told me to. Now what coach?

Did you manage to delete the IDMIECC.dll?
If so, please restart your computer and try downloading the removal tool again.

No, it stated that Windows could not find reqsvr32/u

Alright, did you make sure to make a space between regsvr32 and /u when typing the command?
(it should just be one long command, not two by the way, you could try again, but this time copy and paste the command I wrote)

Best regards,
Kyte
