HI ruggb,
I have notice in the consumer forum that a bios update has resolved that issue for some. Please follow the links in my previous post and check to see if one is available for yours.
If not as I said you will get more explosure for this issue on the commercial forum,
Good Luck!

this issue is an ongoing issue with a number of mfg. as seen by the many posts.
It has been around for years. This is the first time I ran into it.
Since it does NOT involve the computer even being on, the issue must be either HW or FW.
Many ppl seem to resolve it by uninstalling and reinstalling the MS battery compliant driver.
That does not work for me - except that after I do that and shut down it charges for about 5-10 seconds
And I did not post this specifically in commercial b/c of the fact that there are many non-commercial and other mfg devices with the same issue - so it isn't specific to commercial products.

wonderful advice, was ready to buy another battery but this did the trick of recognising the primary battery, which once sorted actually had a 98% charge. My problem had i think been caused by a temporary electical supply program which actually reset the clock back 2 years - that seemed to mess up the battery identification and other priobs with web site access working on an earlier date accessing 2014 cert - even google wasn't accessible. So many thanks - great forum

I agree with the problem being the power port. I have an Elitebook 8440p that worked well but just started acting up a few months ago. I knew that it wasn't the battery, because once it was charged, it gave approximately 2 hours of use at full power. And the AC adapter was producing approximately 19.95 volts open circuit, so that wasnt the problem, either. It appears to be a problem with the contact that mates with the inside of the barrel plug. Twisting and jiggling the power plug will eventually get the adapter to charge the battery. I wonder how many of these are in the landfill because of this problem?

HI ruggb,
Thank you for your response.
Would you check the to see if there is a bent pin in the power connector on the notebook. It has been noted that sometime it become bent to misaligned thus causing this issue.
If this did not help and you do not wish to post on the commercial forum as I previously suggested, then I recommend contacting HP support for further assistance.
Please call our technical support at 800 474 6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get a support number for your region.

no bent pins
I believe I have posted this to commercial and no responses
diag and batt tests both show battery is good.
It only chgs to 24%.
If the BIOS controls it - I would like to revert to F.24
I don't know when this started but I updated to F.50 not too long ago.
Is there a way to go back to F.24
Is there any other drivers/firmware that has an effect on this battery.
otherwise it must be a h/w issue.
