We've got a VTX-1000, which sounds great when you can get it to negotiate a wideband connection. However, it seems that so many carriers are using compression on their circuits that we can rarely get it to negotiate a wideband connection.
What is everyone else's experience? Is there another product that provides the same quality of sound but isn't so susceptible to the carrier's whims about how they run their circuits?
Thanks

Hello all,
welcome to the Polycom Community.
This is not really a Polycom issue as the technology provided to enhance the Audio is counteracted by using carriers using voice compression to safe bandwidth.
The only other possibility would be utilizing one of our SIP Phones instead and selecting a HD codec for the call.
Polycom cannot control what carriers do with their lines so you really need to take this up with your service provider.

Hello Neo,
Polycom cannot control what carrier you are using so we need to establish a few facts before you need to work with your Polycom reseller.
The original poster has talked about the usage of carriers that utilize compression on their lines. Are you seeing this issue with every call you make ?
Are these internal calls within a PABX or via a PSTN line ?
Have you tried establishing a call between two VTX's ?
Can you provide more details ?
Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.
Best Regards
