I only notice this when using photo paper: There are ~ 1 inch CLEAR roller marks on the left and right-hand sides of the page. I have cleaned the rollers and it's not ink. It's clear, like a smudge mark or deposit. You can see the color photo beneath it just fine--just has this smudge on top. It is not very visible, but you can definitely see it when the light hits at the right angle. It seems obvious it's being caused by the rollers based on the size and spacing but, again, I did clean them.
The only way I can think to describe it is that it's almost like the rollers are hitting the paper too hard and leaving a mark.
I did set the printer settings to HP photo paper *and* I am using HP photo paper.
I have tried "printing" a blank page of photo paper and the marks still show up. I ran blank pages through a few times hoping it would clean the rollers of any remaining residue--no change.

Hi @WhyTHO22222,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you are facing an issue with your printer that has roller marks while printing images..
A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.
1) Take out the cartridges
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges
B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day

This strange series of steps, which I followed to the letter, did nothing. My firmware was up-to-date. Printed a blank document using the HP photo paper setting and a piece of glossy HP photo paper and the marks are still there. And now I have ruined yet another sheet of photo paper.
TO BE CLEAR. These are not ink marks. There's nothing wrong with the printer when I print on regular paper in color or in black and white--only photo paper. They are more like "skid" marks where the rollers hit. They are clear. You can only see them when you hold the paper at an angle to the light.
