How can HP justify a 33% increase in their subscription?

I would very much like them to explain to me what the reason is.

My guess is that they priced the scheme ultra-cheap to get people on board, and are now implementing a phased increase.

Maybe they don't really want customers? That's fine - there are plenty of other companies to choose from.

I don't really want to be rid of the printer. The printer functions fine, and does all I need, and it was't a particularly cheap model. There's no sense in disposing of it otherwise.

I also don't want to cut off my nose.... so to speak. Just ditching the printer, and moving to another brand isn't going to save much money. There's always going to be a cost of ownership.

The principle here is that I chose a product based on my understanding of its cost to  purchase and operate. The operation cost has changed significantly over what I had based my decision on.

They will argue that I'm still getting 'excellent value for money', and 'all the befits of using genuine HP cartridges', and all that.

In reality, now, it's no longer a value benefit. It is now at the point where buying ad-hoc supplies is no more expensive for me.

They've even been banging on in emails about adding paper supplies to my subscription, at an extra £3.99 per month. Are they serious there? I use a ream a year now, if that. I can buy a ream of paper for a little more than that anyway, why on earth would I pay that per month?

If I do anything now, it will be switch to third party supplies.
