Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We recently updated 17 of these for a customer - our stupid mistake, because HP is now blocking NON-HP toners with their firmware !

 

Call to HP Support to find a solution to downgrade to the previous (old firmware) was denied because printers are out of warranty !!!

 

HP send out a firmware update blocking us for using printers and wont help us because the printers are out of warranty ????

 

I guess moving forward we will not be buying or recommending HP printers to our customers...

If you asked nicely maybe someone could provide you an older firmware version for you to run a downgrade.

Product: Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281cdw

I have the above printer and have actually purchased HP cartridges but would like to finish my almost new third party cartridges. Unfortunately, I allowed firmware upgrade and now I'm stuck. I have downloaded an old version from 20200620 (I believe that is the number) and have run the updater. It uploads the firmware to completion but does not restart the printer. If I unplug the printer and restart I'm still back where I started. 

Any suggestions
