Hi @MAGA20241,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP 4655 is printing blank pages despite showing that the ink levels are half full, it's possible that the issue could be related to a few different factors. Let's go through them and see how we can fix it:

Ink Cartridge Issues

Even though the ink levels are showing as half full, the ink may still be clogged or dried out, especially if the printer was sitting unused for some time. The test print would usually show if the ink is dried up, but it could be that some of the ink is not flowing properly.

Steps to Fix:

Clean the printhead again:

  • Run the cleaning process again from the printer's settings menu (under “Tools” or "Maintenance").
  • Do this multiple times if necessary. Sometimes, it takes several cleanings to resolve issues with clogged nozzles.

Perform a printhead alignment:

  • After cleaning the printhead, perform an alignment to ensure the printhead is properly aligned and ink is properly dispensed.

Check the ink cartridge installation:

  • Remove the cartridges, check for any protective tape that hasn't been removed, and reinstall them securely.

Test with a different paper type:

  • If you are using glossy or photo paper, try printing on regular paper to see if that makes a difference.

Ink Drying Out

If the printer hasn't been used for a while, or if it has been stored in an area with fluctuating temperatures, the ink could have dried inside the printhead. In some cases, running the cleaning cycle multiple times might not be enough, and manual cleaning may be necessary.

Manual Cleaning Process:

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Open the cartridge door and carefully remove the cartridges.
  3. Use a soft, lint-free cloth or paper towel and moisten it slightly with distilled water (avoid tap water).
  4. Gently wipe the printhead contacts and cartridge contacts with the cloth to remove any dried ink or debris.
  5. Reinsert the cartridges, close the door, and power the printer back on.

Printing from the Right Cartridges

Ensure that the printer is using the correct ink cartridges. Sometimes the printer may fail to detect the cartridge correctly.

  1. Double-check that the cartridges are seated properly in their respective slots.
  2. If the printer still doesn't print, try swapping the ink cartridges to see if one is defective.

Printer Settings

Check your printer settings in the HP Smart app or printer’s menu to ensure it’s not set to print in draft mode or grayscale.

  • Try switching to normal or high-quality print settings and see if the issue persists.

Printer Firmware Update

Check if there's an available firmware update for your printer. Sometimes issues like this can be resolved with a firmware update.

  1. Go to the HP support website and search for the latest firmware for your HP 4655.
  2. Download and install the firmware, then restart the printer.

Printer Test

Run a printer diagnostic test from the HP Smart app to check for any other issues. The app can help identify if there's an underlying issue.
