HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 All-in-One Printer

I just get a brown /orange tone when I try to print photos. I have changed all print cartridges, done all 3 stages of print head cleaning, downloaded the HP print and scan doctor and ran the diagnosis routines - still will not print true colors

Hi @ejmjintx

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Please try these steps:

1. Check Color Settings

  • Ensure that the color settings in your printing preferences are set correctly.
  • Go to Devices and Printers, right-click on your printer, and select Printing Preferences. Make sure the option for color printing is selected.

2. Update Printer Drivers

  • Make sure your printer drivers are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the HP support website.
  • Click HERE to download latest drivers.

3. Print Quality Settings

  • In the Printing Preferences, check the print quality settings. Set it to "Best" or "High Quality" to see if that improves color accuracy.

4. Use Genuine HP Cartridges

  • Ensure that you are using genuine HP cartridges. Sometimes third-party cartridges can cause color issues.

5. Check for Software Issues

  • Try printing from a different application or software to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, the issue can be with the specific software you’re using.

6. Perform a Print Head Alignment

  • Use the printer's built-in alignment feature. Go to Printer Maintenance in the printer settings and select Align Printheads.

7. Run a Print Quality Diagnostic Page

  • This can help identify if the issue is with specific colors. You can usually find this option in the printer's maintenance settings.

8. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support site. Installing the latest firmware can resolve various issues.
  • Click here to update firmware:

9. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about a minute, and then plug it back in and turn it on.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
