As others have posted, I am joining the fray.  below is what I messaged and HP support rep on 29Oct2020;

Hi TEJ1602

Like the others, working from home, needing to print, and in desperate need of 902 yellow and 902 Cyan, what is HP doing?   With no concrete answer in the foreseeable future of 902 inks being available, some in the thread have suggested providing credit towards another model HP printer.  That would work for me.

From a  customer perspective, I am sure you can sense our need for a fix ASAP.  I would provide any information necessary to have this expedited.

I hope, and assume, you can private message/email me via the email address as part of my profile.

Thank you.

It’s been a pleasure interacting with you,

And I hope you have a good day ahead.

As @TEJ1602 is out for the day, I am responding on his behalf.

This is utter BS.  Totally ignorant of the customer.  If anyone else had an answer, we wouldn't be in this situation.  Many have suggested possible solutions, but HP is not responding in any way shape, or form to address the issue

I was able to actually speak with a  support rep (Marjorie). within a relatively short amount of time.   Unfortunately, I had to repeat the ink recall issue a number of times until it was understood.   At first, I was told ink is available through the HP Support Center, not the HP Store. I questioned if that is the case, then why is it not posted as an upfront message, due to the fact there are so many customers experiencing the ink recall situation.  If 'customer service/support' ( and I use that term loosely), made an effort to check the Community Forum, they may even notice there are lots of pissed off customers.  When I stated that my printer is still under warranty, and a suggestion on the forum, was to issue a credit for a replacement (other) HP Printer, not just for printers under warranty but for all experiencing the ink recall issue, I was placed on hold so she can speak with a support supervisor.  She came back and told me again that ink is available through the HP Support Center.   I then asked to speak with a support supervisor. She would see if one is available.  I asked, if you can speak with a supervisor, then I want to speak with a supervisor.  I was placed on hold, again.  She came back, told me a supervisor is not available, but she was told that ink will be available soon.  Without jumping through the phone, I emphatically explained that is not the answer a customer wants to hear. We need a definitive date.  After quite a few minutes of back and forth, AGAIN, I was placed on hold.  Once again, she came back.  This time I was told stores should have ink by November 9th.  My immediate thoughts were, one, she was not speaking with anyone and randomly selected a date, or two, she was speaking with a supervisor, and they threw darts.  Before I hung up,  again I was emphatic,  in a kind tirade way, this is no way for countless customers to be inconvenienced, without ANY information posted online.

I apologize for rambling, but all we can do is wait and see.  Hope everyone has a good, safe day

@ckaye1

I am positive that the ink will be available soon. In case if you are still facing any issues please look for a private message from me requesting additional information. Keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

You said you're positive ink will be available "soon." It's been 15 days since your post. I've been dealing with this for over a month and I'm beyond losing patience. I'm not sure it's worth buying the ink when it comes in, because I can't count on my printer working.

Any updates??

It seems that I have not been alone in trying to find out if 902 ink will ever be available again or if my Officejet has simply been made obsolete by HP by simply discontinuing the ink.   Given that it may never be available again, I have several questions:

1)  can aftermarket off-brand ink be used without getting "incompatible" messages?  If so what is the brand and source?

2)  is there a way to sidestep printing in color and set the printer to only print in black and white?

3)  Is there a way (snail mail address) to contact HP because it seems they do a great job of making it impossible to contact a living human service rep?

I don't know about any of you, but I will NEVER AGAIN buy an HP printer.  I had one before and wasn't happy but got suckered in to buying another because of some super rebate and trade in deal.  Sorry I fell for it.  If a company can't make it easy to ask a simple question, then they can go to hell.

Frankly I'm surprised that you got through to a human but I suppose because my printer is no longer under warranty, I don't count anymore.  When the automated voice service asked if my printer was still under warranty and I said no, it literally hung up.  I will never buy another HP printer.  If anybody has an address where I can actually send a real letter to a real person about how terrible their customer service is, please let me know.

HP customer service (or lack thereof) is the worst I've even experienced.   I wish I had an actual address to send an actual letter to be on record about their terrible service.  I will never buy HP again.
