Hi @Ussiew,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand how frustrating it can be when your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer shows a “There is a problem with the supply system” message right after you’ve replaced a cartridge, especially when you're confident the cartridge isn’t empty.

Let’s walk through the steps to resolve this issue.

Step 1: Reset the Printer

This clears temporary memory glitches.

  1. Press the Power button to turn off the printer.
  2. If it doesn’t respond, unplug the power cord from the printer.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector).
  5. Turn the printer back on.

Step 2: Check and Clean the Cartridge

Sometimes debris or adhesive can block the cartridge vent.

  1. Open the cartridge access door.
  2. Remove the affected cartridge.
  3. Inspect the vent area (top of the cartridge) for glue residue or dust.
  4. Use a pin or paper clip to gently clean the vent.
  5. Reinsert the cartridge into its color-coded slot and press down until it clicks.

Repeat for other cartridges if needed.

Step 3: Try a Different Cartridge

If the error persists:

  • Replace the affected cartridge with a new, genuine HP cartridge.
  • HP recommends using original cartridges to avoid compatibility issues.

If your cartridge is under warranty, you may be eligible for a free replacement.

Step 4: Contact HP Support

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, the printhead may need servicing.
