HP Smart Tank 585 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Smart Tank 585 printer has suddenly stopped printing the colors. I tried every test and cleaned the printheads but still no colors. When I opened the case and checked, the ink tube had air in it and because of it the prints were missing colors. I tried googling it and tried HP Virtual Assistant but no use. Can anyone help me with it?

@iasher, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Air in Ink Tubes on HP Smart Tank 585!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Air in the ink tubes of your HP Smart Tank 585 can cause issues with missing colors. Below are steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Check Ink Levels:

  • Make sure that the ink tanks are filled with enough ink. Low ink levels can cause air to enter the ink tubes.

Run Printhead Cleaning:

  • Try to run the printhead cleaning process from your printer's maintenance menu several times. This can help remove air bubbles from the ink tubes.

Manual Ink Tube Priming:

  • Carefully open the printer and locate the ink tubes.
  • Use a syringe to gently pull ink into the ink tubes if possible. This involves disconnecting the ink tube from the printhead, then attaching the syringe to the tube and gently drawing ink into the syringe, thereby removing the air.

Reset the Print System:

  • Turn off your printer completely and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes recalibrate the system.

Replace Ink Tubes:

  • If air bubbles persist, consider contacting HP support for a replacement of ink tubes, as there could be a defect causing repeated air intake.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

@Zoey7886 I tried almost everything mentioned above but the ink goes back towards tank everytime I try to install printheads again and start cleaning printhead. I still didn't understand why the ink is going back to tank and how the ink is coming in the tubes and how to fix this issue.
I have tried to check for physical damage or any blockage in printer but everything was fine. Even tried cleaning the printer from Embedded Web Services interface, but still no use.
My printer is not printing any colors, even in diagnostic tests the prints are completely black and white.

HP don't provides the services in my state. I tried contacting them but no use. I still have valid warranty but I don't know if it comes under warranty or not?
