Hi @Wing00w0

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you have air trapped in the yellow ink tube of your HP Ink Tank 315 printer, which is preventing the yellow ink from being dispensed properly. Air bubbles in the ink lines can cause print quality issues, especially with colors not printing as expected. While HP printers typically don’t have a specific “priming” feature, you can try several methods to resolve the air issue and restore your yellow ink flow.

Here are some steps you can follow to try to fix the issue:

1. Perform a Cleaning Cycle

While you’ve already done a cleaning process, it's worth performing a printhead cleaning again to ensure there are no blockages or clogs in the system. This can also help move air through the tubes.

  • Go to the Printer’s Control Panel: Open the printer software on your computer, navigate to the Utility or Maintenance section, and select Clean Printhead or Clean Ink System.
  • If available, you can choose Deep Cleaning, which is more thorough, but keep in mind this can use more ink.
  • After cleaning, print a test page to see if yellow ink is flowing properly.

2. Manually Prime the Ink System

Unfortunately, your printer doesn’t have an explicit priming function, but you can try the following manual steps to get rid of air in the ink tubes:

  • Turn the printer off and unplug it for safety.
  • Gently remove the yellow ink cartridge from its slot, and inspect it to ensure there’s no visible blockage.
  • With the cartridge removed, gently shake it (don't shake too vigorously to avoid spilling ink), and then reinstall the cartridge.
  • Power on the printer and attempt to print again.

Sometimes, this can help move air out of the ink tubes.

3. Use a Soft Reset

A soft reset might help reset the internal systems and encourage ink to flow correctly:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power outlet.
  • Wait for 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in and turn the printer on.
  • After powering on, try printing a test page to check if the yellow ink is working.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
