OfficeJet Pro 6978

Recently it's been difficult to impossible to find the cyan cartridge (HP # 902) for the OfficeJet Pro 6978. But Amazon (and other companies) cheerfully sell 3rd party cartridges.

 

They never work in the printer.

 

This is highly annoying. It's one thing (and not a wonderful thing) that HP restricts me from using cartridges by others. But beyond ridiculous when HP can't offer a consistent supply of its own cartridges. 

 

I'm particularly unhappy that I can't discuss with the company due to the fact that the printer is out of warranty and they apparently don't offer paid support. Very discouraging. 

 

By the way, I did disable "cartridge protection", but the system thinks 3rd party cartridges are empty.

 

Any thoughts?

How did you disable the cartridge protection? I've been trying to figure it out since 1:45 pm today and it's now 9:30 pm (EST). Today is March 12, 2021. Hope I hear from you soon. Thx! FrustratedUse69
