Thanks Elohi, the printer is HP Photosmart 5520. The colour cartridges work but the black doesn’t. I have changed the cartridge so I know it is full of ink but no black ink is featuring when printing. Thanks.

Hi @Simon250,
Thanks for sharing the details.
Update the Firmware by selecting the current OS.
Perform the following tasks in the order given. Use the printer after each task to see if the issue is resolved.
Wait for automatic printhead servicing to complete
Your printer automatically services the printhead to keep the print nozzles clear from ink buildup and flowing smoothly.
Printhead servicing is completed within a few hours after the last print job and should improve any print quality issues.
Clean the printhead
Use an automated tool to clean the printhead to restore print quality.
CAUTION:
To prevent ink system issues, do not turn off the printer when cartridges are not installed which can damage the printer. Make sure to replace any low or empty cartridges as soon as possible, and use the Power button to turn off the printer.
On the control panel, touch the Settings icon.
Touch Tools, and then touch the Down Arrow .
Touch Clean Printhead.
The printer cleans the printhead and prints a test page. This can take a few minutes to complete.
Examine the print quality on the test page.
If the print quality is still unacceptable, touch Yes to clean the printhead up to two more times.
NOTE:
Printheads that are badly clogged might require another full cleaning cycle. Wait at least 30 minutes before cleaning the printhead again.
If the print quality is acceptable, touch No. You are done.
