Black won't print at all on my 8710 Office Jet Pro. I've replaced cartridges, made sure to use HP brand, run through the clean cartridge cycle, updated drivers, removed the cartridges and tried to manually clean everything. Nothing seems to be working. The other colors print fine.

Hi @nlbookhout,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with the HP 8710 printer Quality with not printing in Black Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
May I know
- have you observed any light blinking or any error code?
If the black ink is not printing on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 despite replacing cartridges, running clean cycles, and ensuring proper maintenance, there are a few additional steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Check Ink Levels: Ensure that the black ink cartridge has enough ink. You can check the ink levels through the printer software on your computer or directly on the printer's control panel.
Clean the Printhead Manually: You mentioned that you've tried cleaning, but you might want to perform a more thorough manual cleaning of the printhead. Here's a general guide:
- Remove the black ink cartridge.
- Dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water.
- Gently wipe the printhead to remove any dried ink or debris.
- Allow the printhead to dry completely before reinserting the cartridge.
Run Automated Cleaning Again: Run the automated printhead cleaning utility through the printer's control panel or the HP software on your computer. Sometimes, multiple cleaning cycles may be required to clear a stubborn clog.
Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Visit the official HP website and look for any available firmware updates for your OfficeJet Pro 8710 model.
Use Genuine HP Cartridges: While you mentioned using HP brand cartridges, make sure they are genuine and not counterfeit or third-party cartridges, as they may cause printing issues.
Perform a Hard Reset: Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve issues with the printer's internal components.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
