HP Envy 6055 Printer
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

Hello, how do I bypass the error that's asking me to use the Setup Ink Cartridges for my HP Envy 6055 printer?

I've seen on other posts that you must perform an OOBE reset. Can I please have the instructions for this?

Thank you.

Hi @jmancini5,

I'd like to help!

I understand you are receiving a "use setup cartridges" error.

We would have to perform an OOBE reset on the printer to bypass the error

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.

I also have this problem, could you please help? We were given our HP DeskJet 6055 and we aren't able to set it up on the wifi without the cartridges.

Hi there, I too have a similar problem. I received my printer as an early Christmas gift and in the process of opening it I either tossed the cartridges that were inside or there was none. I have HP ink cartridges for my specific printer, just not the 'setup' ones. Is there anyway I could get instructions on how to fix this? My printer is the HP OfficeJet 5255. Thanks so much!

Here's the instructions I was given for the 6055. Wireless button is on the back.

  1. Open the ink cartridge access door.
  2. Press and hold the Wireless button for at least three seconds.
  3. Close the ink cartridge access door. An alignment page prints, indicating that the printer has initialized.
  4. If the printer does not initialize, repeat these steps until it does
