Lauren - After trying all of the suggestions I found on this site, for two days, I gave up and decided to purchase a new printer.
My (HP Office Jet 9025) Printer was more than two years old. So, for me, it was not a difficult decision. Problem was that the small retailers (OfficeDepot, etc.) did not have any printers in stock - supposedly due to the shortage of longshoremen to unload the container ships near Long Beach,CA. HOWEVER, I found exactly the printer I wanted (HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e) at Amazon. It sold for the same price as everywhere else and it was delivered within 1 business day. So I only had three business days without a printer.
BTW: The HP OfficeJet Printer I had before the last one only lasted for about 2 years also, then it started misbehaving. Interesting - very interesting...

I have the same issue where I need to change the yellow ink cartridge but the carriage won't move and I can't move it manually either. The printer won't print because the yellow ink is empty. I'm just going round in circles and it's very frustrating. Has anyone resolved this issue because I can't find an answer on here?

OK, I just spent 35 minutes on the phone with HP tech support (you have to fill out a form to get a case number first). He walked me through some steps -- I had to do a "semi-full reset" in order to change my ink cartridges. Then you have to reset your wireless network, etc. It's finally working and I was able to change all my ink cartridges at once so I won't have to go through this again for a while. I suggest you talk to the tech support.
