Hi @mmmeliiii

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

You may still be able to print with your HP 2336 printer even if the color cartridges are empty, but it depends on the printer settings and the specific print job:

Check Printer Settings:

  • Open the print dialog from your application.
  • Look for an option that says Print in Grayscale or Print in Black & White. This should allow you to print using only the black cartridge.

Default Printing Preferences:

  • Go to Devices and Printers (Windows) or Printers & Scanners (Mac).
  • Right-click your printer, select Printing Preferences, and set it to print in black and white or grayscale by default.

Considerations:

  • Some printers require all cartridges to have ink, even if you are only printing in black. If you encounter an error, it might indicate that you cannot print without the color cartridges installed.
  • If the printer allows you to print with just the black cartridge, you may find that color graphics or documents will not print correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
