Hi,

I own an HP Officejet Pro 9020. I normally use HP964XL cartridges, but recently I have only seen HP962 cartridges; however, the 962 cartridges do not work in my printer. What is the solution as I now have black 964 cartridges which work and 962 cartridges that don’t work.

Regards

Glenn

Hi @Equitech,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering a common issue with HP ink cartridge compatibility. The HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 is designed to use HP 964XL cartridges, while the HP 962 cartridges are intended for other models. Here’s what you can do.

  • Check Compatibility: Make sure you're purchasing cartridges that specifically state they are compatible with the HP OfficeJet Pro 9020. Stick with the HP 964XL cartridges for your black, cyan, magenta, and yellow inks.
  • Retailers: Check with multiple retailers, both online and in-store, as availability can vary. Websites like Amazon, Walmart, or office supply stores often have a range of cartridges.
  • HP Store: Visit the official HP store online, where you can find the correct cartridges and sometimes even sign up for a subscription service to receive them automatically.

Make sure to dispose of any incompatible cartridges properly, and keep your printer's firmware updated, as sometimes firmware updates can affect cartridge compatibility.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
