HP Smart Tank 7005 All-in-One

I have followed the instructions videos to install my new printer, but when I have placed the printer heads, the display says that there are errors with both heads. I have removed the tape, I have taken the printer heads out and put them back. They do not click, but I cannot push them further down, and I can close the lid. I have been in touch with  a supporter, who via my phone could see what I did. I have switched off the printer. I have tried using the diagnosis in the smart app. Nothing has helped 😞 😞 . Can anyone help?? Thank you.

Thank you for your answer and for trying to help me! I did all the things mentioned but without a positive result. I asked for help here last week, and I also got support from HP Denmark. The kind and helpful supporter could not help me but ordered two new printheads. They arrived today and everything is fine now 🙂 and I can print!! So something wrong with the first printheads, it seems.

Hi @Torbendue,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering difficulties with installing the printheads on your HP Smart Tank 7005 printer despite following the instructions carefully. Here are some steps and tips that might help resolve the issue.

  • Ensure Correct Placement: Double-check the orientation and alignment of the printheads. Each printhead should be inserted into the correct slot with the color-coded labels matching the slots.
  • Remove Packaging Materials: Confirm that all protective tapes and packaging materials have been completely removed from the printheads. Sometimes, small pieces can be overlooked.
  • Check for Obstructions: Look inside the printhead slots for any debris or obstructions that might prevent the printheads from seating properly. Use a flashlight if needed to get a clear view.
  • Firm but Gentle Insertion: While inserting the printheads, ensure you are applying enough pressure to properly seat them into place. They should fit snugly and you should feel a slight click when they are properly seated, though it's important not to force them.
  • Restart the Printer: After checking everything, turn off the printer, wait for a minute, and then turn it back on. Sometimes, a reset can help clear any temporary issues.
  • Update Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, firmware updates can address hardware recognition issues.

By carefully going through these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the issue with installing the printheads on your HP Smart Tank 7005 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
