I leave my printer in my home for five months during the hot summer in Phoenix while I am gone.  The house heats up inside during the summer months, perhaps up to 100 degrees or more.  What is the best strategy to preserve the printer and the ink cartridges while I am away.  Should I leave the cartridges installed in the printer, or should I remove them?

The BEST way to preserve them is to leave them in the printer and leave the printer turned on. The reason for this is that the printer will perform maintenance once and a while to keep all the nozzles clean. The second best option is to remove them, store them in a plastic bag that you have removed as much air as possible from.
