Hi @SGTSCREAM1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues with new HP ink cartridges not being recognized by your HP DeskJet 4155e printer, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.

  • Check Compatibility: Ensure that the new cartridges are compatible with your HP DeskJet 4155e printer. HP printers are designed to work best with genuine HP cartridges, so using genuine HP cartridges is recommended.
  • Verify Installation: Double-check that the new cartridges are installed correctly. Open the printer cover and remove the new cartridges. Then, reinstall them firmly into their respective slots until they click into place.
  • Restart Printer: Sometimes, restarting the printer can help it recognize new cartridges. Turn off your printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Printer firmware updates can sometimes include improvements and bug fixes related to cartridge recognition.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: If the printer still does not recognize the cartridges, you can gently wipe the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges with a lint-free cloth to remove any dust or debris. Be careful not to touch the nozzles or electrical contacts.
  • Reset Printer: As a last resort, you can try resetting the printer to its factory settings. This process will vary depending on your printer model, so refer to the printer’s manual or HP’s support website for instructions.

HP printers typically have built-in mechanisms to detect genuine cartridges, so using genuine HP cartridges is recommended to ensure compatibility and optimal performance.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
