Operating system Android 16. The printed colours are different to the original document eg. Red's are more purple and yellows, white or pale pink. I've tried all of the recommended things, alignment, cleaning print heads, making sure that the paper  and colour settings are correct. None made any difference.

Further to my original message my printer is an HP Smart Tank Plus 559.

I understand that you are experiencing a print quality issue with your HP Smart Tank Plus 559, where the printed output does not match the original colors or appearance of the document. To help resolve this issue, please follow the troubleshooting steps below.

 

Clean the ink smears (HP App)

  • Use the HP App to clean printhead contacts and improve any print quality issues.
  • Open the HP Smart app, and then click the image of your printer to open the settings and management tools.
  • Under Tools, click Alignment & Maintenance.
  • If the Alignment & Maintenance is not available, click Advanced Settings to open the printer Embedded Web Server (EWS), and then click Tools. Click Utilities, and then click Print Quality Toolbox.
  • Under Clean Up, click Clean Smear or Clean Ink Smear.
  • A Rib Smear cleaning in progress message displays, and the printer feeds one page slowly. The printer might make some noise for a minute before it is done.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic page

  • To resolve many print quality issues, print a Print Quality Diagnostic page, and then evaluate the results.
  • Press and hold the Copy Color and Resume buttons at the same time for three seconds.
  • A Print Quality Diagnostic page prints.

Print Quality Diagnostic page

  • Review the test patterns, checking for missing colors, fading, and white lines.
  • Please share the Printer page.

Clean the printhead (HP App)

  • Use the HP App to clean the printhead and fix many print quality issues including incorrect colors, streaks, and faded printouts.
  • Load plain white paper into the tray.
  • Open the HP Smart app, and then click the image of your printer to open the settings and management tools.
  • Under Tools, click Print Quality Tools, and then select Clean Printhead or Clean.
  • A Cleaning printhead message displays, and a test page prints.
  • Example of test page printouts

Examples of a test page

  • Examine the print quality on the test page.
  • If the print quality is acceptable, you are done troubleshooting.
  • If the print quality is unacceptable, touch Yes in the HP Smart app to perform a second-level and third-level cleaning, which are more thorough and take a few extra minutes to complete.

Having tried every possible solution suggested it is very disappointing that nothing has resolved the problem. Particularly, when the printing problems have arisen only a matter of weeks after the guarantee ended.

I understand that the issue is still not resolved. To help us investigate this further, I kindly request that you share a clear photo of the diagnostic page that was printed.

Additionally, if possible, please try installing one cartridge and let me know whether the printer functions normally with either cartridge individually. This will help determine if the issue is related to a specific cartridge or another component of the printer.

Once you share the diagnostic page and the results of the cartridge test, I'll be happy to assist you with the next steps.

     I cannot do anything with the cartridges as the printer will not move them to a position where I can access them because it does not think that there is a problem with the print heads.

I understand that the issue is still not resolved. To help us investigate this further, could you please share a clear picture of the error message displayed on the printer? Additionally, please inspect the ink tubes for any visible air bubbles. If you notice any, kindly share a clear picture of the ink tubes as well. This will help us determine whether the issue is related to the printer's ink delivery system and assist you with the appropriate next steps.

Thank you for your reply.  The printer does not show an error message. It just does not print yellow colors at all and red colors are a shade of pink. I cannot see the ink tubes. I don't know if I might be able to if the print heads moved to the position where they can be changed. However because the printer does not think there is anything wrong with the print heads I cannot get them to move.  I have tried to take a photo inside the printer to see if that would show the ink tubes. I have attached below a photo which might show at least one of those tubes.
