To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please try a few troubleshooting steps provided below so that I can assist you further?

 

Step-by-step troubleshooting

  1. Check the ink icons on the control panel
    If the Ink icon is blinking, one or more ink tanks are low on ink. HP says to refill the indicated ink tank.
  2. Refill the cyan tank if the printer indicates it is empty
    Even if ink appears visible, HP recommends filling any tank that shows low/empty status.

  3. Check paper and print settings
    Make sure:
    • The correct paper type is selected
    • The print quality settings are correct
    • The paper is clean and not curled or wrinkled
  4. Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page
    1. On the printer control panel, press and hold the Information button for 5 seconds to enable support mode.
    2. For Smart Tank 580, press and hold the Color Copy button for 3 seconds.
    3. Review the page for missing colors, fading, or white lines.
  5. Clean the printhead using the control panel
    For HP Smart Tank 580:
    • Level 1 cleaning: Press and hold the Power button for more than 4 seconds, then press the Color Copy button 2 times. Release the Power button.
    • If needed, continue to deeper cleaning levels.
  6. Run Level 2 cleaning if cyan is still missing
    Press and hold the Power button for more than 4 seconds, press the Color Copy button 2 times, and the Black Copy button 1 time. Release the Power button.
  7. Run Level 3 cleaning if needed
    Press and hold the Power button for more than 4 seconds, press the Color Copy button 2 times, and the Black Copy button 2 times. Release the Power button.

HP notes that badly clogged printheads might require another cleaning cycle. Wait at least 30 minutes before cleaning again.

  1. Align the printheads
    You can align from the HP app:
    1. Load plain white paper.
    2. Open the HP app.
    3. Go to Diagnostics or Tools > Print quality tools.
    4. Click Align print
