Ironically as soon as my printer runs out of warranty it has stopped working. I have replaced the ink cartridges, cleaned the print head and ran diagnostics. Every time I attempt to align it an error message pops up.

I am currently paying for an instant ink subscription so the ink is a genuine hp product.

Hi @carinajs,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check the Printer's Environment:

  • Ensure the printer is on a stable surface and not exposed to direct sunlight or high temperatures, which can affect performance.

Correct Paper Loading:

  • Make sure the loaded paper meets the printer's requirements for alignments, such as using plain white letter or A4 size paper.
  • Single sheets of paper and transparent materials are not suitable for printhead alignment.

Re-calibrate or Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for around 10 seconds. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the calibration settings.

Run the Alignment Process:

  • Go to the printer’s front panel and select the alignment process. If your printer is close to the beginning of a roll, the printer may need to feed up to 3 meters (≈ 10 ft) of paper before starting the printhead alignment.

I hope this helps.
