Heyy there HP community!
I recently replaced the colour ink cartridge of my DeskJet 4120e and since then the printer prints out the print head alignment sheet every time I turn it on and after a print job’s finished and then printer then wants me to do the alignment process. I tried reseating the ink cartridge and resetting the printer multiple times but the issue is still there. And it even persists when I put the old and empty cartridge in. I really don’t know what to do next and I hope that some of you guys could help me. Thanks in advanced!

Hi @_erik__krueger_,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with your DeskJet printer. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve this.
- Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the new color ink cartridge is installed correctly. Sometimes improper installation can cause alignment issues.
- Clean Cartridge Contacts: Clean the electrical contacts on both the new and old cartridges as well as the contacts inside the printer. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to gently wipe the contacts.
- Printer Reset: Perform a more thorough reset of your printer. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 2-3 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP website. Sometimes firmware updates can resolve compatibility issues and bugs.
- Check for Software Issues: Make sure your printer software is up to date. Sometimes outdated printer drivers or software can cause unexpected behavior.
- Disable Automatic Print Head Alignment: In your printer settings or through the printer's control panel, see if there's an option to disable automatic print head alignment. This might prevent the alignment sheet from printing every time.
Hopefully, one of these steps will help you resolve the issue and get your printer back to normal functioning.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
