Hi all,

How can I disable the cartridge protection on my HP OfficeJet 6600 printer?

I would like to use other cartridges than those from HP.

Thanks!

Rob

Cartridge protection has nothing to do with the issue of not being able to use non-HP cartridges.

Cartridge Protection: This feature permanently associates toner cartridges with a specific printer, or fleet of printers, so they cannot be used in other printers. Protecting cartridges protects your investment. When this feature is enabled, if someone attempts to transfer a protected cartridge from the original printer into an unauthorized printer, that printer will not print with the protected cartridge. The printer control panel displays a message that the cartridge is protected, and it provides information explaining how to proceed.

Only later models have this feature, I'm like 99% sure OJ 6600 is a too old model to support the cartridge protection feature.

Thanks for the fast response!

Then how can I use non HP cartridges in my HP printer?

When I try to use a non HP cartridge, I get an error on the printer screen.

It could be several reasons but be sure HP cartridge protection has nothing to do with it.

Try a different brand of non-HP cartridges, also make sure ( if possible ) that the printer works with a genuine cartridge, sometimes a defective printer can reject both genuine and non-genuine cartridges.
