After installing a compatible colour cartridge I have both toner cartridge lights flashing on the control panel?

I understand that need to know that print black and white print will the color cartridge is also used.

The document you refer to is for 

OfficeJet 5200 Printers not Deskjet 2540.

I have tried a new compatible colour cartridge but the printer will not recognise it. I can print using the black only but want to know why it wont use a compatible cartridge?

Hi@ Kiwilad,

 

You have done the basic troubleshooting as per the document and the printer cartridges need to check to get to know its hardware is faulty, not a software issue.

 

I'd suggest you contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer or HP Chat Support Team.
