Hi, I am setting up a new printer for my friend and once it was on and the ink cartridges were installed, the firmware was updated, and the printer was connected to the wireless network and we verified that we could print to it from her computer and our phones we noticed that initially it would not print cyan during the "printer status report" and now it will not print any color at all. I have followed support information and other forum post solutions. I have tested the copy function and that doesn't print color either. When I do the print cartridge alignment it is unsuccessful every time and cleaning the cartridges prints the page but has no color, just black/grey. I feel like I am stuck in a loop of one thing failing and it telling me to do the other. The cartridges are installed correctly, I have double checked that the safety tape has been removed from them and that there is not anything obstructing the connection inside the print cartridge holder. The printer shows that both cartridges are installed and that the levels are good. I followed a guide for "Alignment Issues & Errors" and that didn't help at all either.
I have seen some other people suggesting that the cartridges that come with the printer can be defective. Is this true? Is there a way to get a replacement color cartridge? Is there anything else to try?
Just another frustrating experience with a printer on the list in a long history of hating all printers.

Hi @burtsmithers,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd like to help!
Fabulous analysis. Spectacular diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. You've done a remarkable job performing the steps.
To be able to answer you effectively, we need some information.
Are you using setup cartridges or HP regular cartridges after the initial setup?
Once the initial setup is done, you need to use HP regular cartridges, as the setup cartridges come with minimal ink for setup only.
If not and you are using regular cartridges and the printer is brand new and having issues, contact the store you purchased.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
