Welcome to our HP User Forum!
Yes, you should be able to print using only the black ink cartridge on an HP DeskJet 4100e All-in-One series printer. Please follow these steps:
- Make sure your printer is turned on and connected to your computer.
- Open the document or image you want to print.
- Click on the "File" menu in your application and select "Print." Alternatively, you can press "Ctrl + P" (or Command + P on a Mac) as a shortcut.
- In the print settings window, locate and click on the "Properties" or "Preferences" button. This button may vary depending on your printer model.
- In the printer properties window, look for an option called "Print using only the black cartridge" or a similar setting that allows you to use only the black ink.
- Enable or select the "Print using only the black cartridge" option if it's available. If you can't find this specific option, you can look for a grayscale or black-and-white printing option.
- Adjust any other printing settings according to your preference, such as paper size, orientation, or quality.
- Once you've made your desired settings, click on the "OK" or "Print" button to start the printing process.
By following these steps, your HP DeskJet 4100e All-in-One series printer should now use only the black ink cartridge for printing. Keep in mind that the available options and settings may vary depending on the printer model and printer driver software version you have installed.
According to the manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c07043347.pdf, the so-called "single cartridge mode" should be initiated automatically by the printer when only one cartridge is fitted. This means that you should remove the tri-color ink cartridge.
Hope this was helpful.
Kind Regards,
