I have an envy 4500 series printer (envy 4527), so I bought this cartridge, because the information on it clearly states that it is compatible with my printer. IT IS NOT! Since this is clearly misinformation by HP, I'd like to hear from HP how they would like to resolve this.

Hi @PaulusW
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to deal with cartridge compatibility issues, especially when the packaging is misleading. May I know where did you purchase the cartridges from?
Could you please elaborate?
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your reply. I believe that future buyers of your products should be able to rely on the Information HP provides. I bought the cartridge at Saturn in Kleve, Germany. Today I was there again for an unrelated purchase and noticed that the packaging of the 301 cartridge still carries the same misinformation. Correcting that would, in my humble opinion, be the only acceptable solution to this issue. In the hope that HP does what it needs to, to provide its customers with correct information, I will mark your reply as accepted solution.
Sincerely,
Paul
