@frank051, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check the Printer Ink Cartridges:

  • Low or Empty Cartridges: Low ink levels can result in color distortion. Make sure all ink cartridges (color and black) have enough ink. You can check this through the printer's control panel or HP Smart app.
  • Reinstall Cartridges: Sometimes, removing and reinstalling the ink cartridges can resolve printing issues if they're not seated properly.
  • Clean the Cartridges: Use the printer’s maintenance options to clean the printhead or ink cartridges.

Perform a Printer Calibration:

  • Calibration helps adjust the printer's color settings to ensure accurate colors.

Check Printer Settings and Paper Type:

  • Paper Type: Make sure you are using the correct paper for photo printing (e.g., glossy or photo paper) as the printer may use different settings for different paper types.
  • Print Quality: Ensure you're printing at a high-quality setting (Photo or Best quality) for the best results.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Outdated or incorrect drivers can cause color problems.
  • Update Drivers: Go to the HP website and download the latest drivers for your Envy 6000 series printer. Install them and restart your computer.

Check for Software/Photo Editing Issues:

  • Image Issues: Make sure the photo you're printing isn't distorted, or the colors are incorrect in the source file. Check the image file on your computer first to ensure the color is correct.
  • Color Profile: Check the color profile settings in the software you're using to print. Sometimes, mismatched profiles can cause colors to appear off.

Perform a Printer Head Cleaning:

  • Over time, printheads can get clogged, leading to poor color output. You can run the printhead cleaning utility from the printer settings or through the HP Smart app.
  • Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.

Try a Test Print:

  • Run a color test page from your printer to see if the issue persists on all colors. If only certain colors are affected, it could be a problem with specific ink cartridges or the printhead.

Reset Printer Settings:

Factory Reset: If the problem persists, try resetting your printer to its factory settings.

To restore the printer to the original factory defaults

  1.  Lift the cartridge access door to expose the cartridge area.
  2.  While the cartridge access door is open, press and hold (the Power button) and Wireless button on the back of the printer for three seconds.

Check for Interference from Third-Party Ink:

  • If you're using third-party ink cartridges, they may not be fully compatible with your printer. Consider switching to genuine HP ink cartridges to see if that resolves the color distortion.
