Error message on HP Color laser jet pro M281.
Error is "indicated cartridges blocked for containing a non-HP chip"
I haven't changed cartridges for a couple months and suddenly I have this error.
How do I get my printer released from this message and be able to keep printing on the printer?

I have the same issue; I noticed that the printer was reprogrammed by HP immediately before. This appears to be a deliberate action on HP's part to reduce the amount of HP cartridges that can be used and may violate anti-trust laws. I suggest HP immediately fix this issue (even if printer is out of warranty) as their action has caused this new problem !!!

Thanks for this!! I struggled with installing it because I'd turned on Allow downgrades and turned off Allow Upgrades. It seems I need to leave Allow Upgrades turned ON until I run the firmware executable and THEN turn it off.
I'm back printing. YAY! Thank you again for this solution.
