Hi @whitecl,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand that your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 printer is displaying the error "There is a problem with the supply system", even after replacing all four ink cartridges with brand-new ones. We’re here to help you resolve this issue.

1. Verify Cartridge Type

  • Confirm that you are using genuine HP 952 or 952 XL cartridges. Non-HP or refilled cartridges may not be recognized, especially after a firmware update.

2. Remove and Reinstall Cartridges

  • Power off the printer.
  • Remove all cartridges.
  • Inspect the cartridges and copper contacts for ink or debris.
  • Reinstall each cartridge one at a time until all are firmly seated.

3. Reset the Printer

  • With the printer powered on, unplug the power cord.
  • Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power on.

4. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Go to the printer’s control panel > Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.
  • You can also check updates via the HP Smart app or the HP website.

5. Inspect the Cartridge Access Area

  • Open the printer door and look for any obstructions, dried ink buildup, or misaligned parts near the cartridge bay or printhead.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
