HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

Similar to this thread: Dynamic Security on new 6978 from 2019, Dynamic Security is preventing me from using my new ink cartridges that I just purchased. I noticed in this thread, HP Inkjet Printers - Dynamic Security Feature Affecting Cartridges Using Non-HP Security Chip, that certain printers received firmware updates that disabled the dynamic security system causing this issue but not all printers.

I purchased this printer in 2019 and have only now begun getting this issue.

Where do I find the firmware update for the Officejet Pro 6978 that will do this?

Also, like the first link mentioned, how is this legal for HP to continue doing, especially after they were involved in a US Supreme Court case about this in 2016, lost a second case in the US in 2020, lost  a case in the EU this past month, were fined by the Italian Antitrust Authority in 2020, and had to offer compensation to Australian consumers in 2018???

Thanks,

Harry

The post wouldn't allow me to select "Printer Driver" or "Cartridge" or "Can't Print" when posting which is why it's ending up in "Inkjet Printer". No idea why.

I am also very dissatisfied with this situation. I have an OfficeJet Pro 6968 with the same issue. I can hardly believe that HP is doing this after the legal decisions against them. It seems purely greed-driven to do this as long as they can. I will not be purchasing another HP product PERIOD until this practice is eliminated.
