Hp 8610 Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have been an Hp customer for over 40 years…No More!!  I upgraded and purchased an 8610 printer ($600.00) at Sam’s Club.  It worked great for months until Hp pushed a firmware out to my printer that caused my printer to give me an error message “Incompatible ink cartridges”.  The printer maintenance menu screen shows that the printer is looking for “Z20” cartridges.  However, the Sam’s Club (North Texas) where I’ve been purchasing the cartridges ($93.00 each) only sale “Z10” cartridges.

Since customers do NOT have the ability to reset the printer to read the Z10 cartridges, I went to a local computer shop to see if they could reset the printer.  They informed me that only Hp Support could sent the codes to unlock the printer.  They informed me that only Hp support can fix the problem by performing a “regionalization” step so the printer will recognize “Z10” cartridges again.  However, Hp Support online will not give me access to them because my printer is no longer under warranty.  Hp is taking advantage of Sam’s Club customers just so they can make extra profits by forcing customers to purchase their ink online directly from “Hp InstantInk.com”.  This is a predator act by Hp upon their customers.  Sam’s Club needs to know what Hp is doing to their customers.  Customers beware of Hp’s predator practices!!!

@CDT12NP, Welcome to HP Support Community!

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
