Very simple.  Just need the silicone gasket that sits around the neck where the print cartridge inserts into the round opening for the printer.  I was wondering why ink leaked all over.  These are missing on the black and red cartridges.  Very simple fix.

My phone is Edited.  Very frustrating trying to reach you folks.  Thank you!

Hi @Mike764,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out regarding the missing silicone gaskets on your HP 6978 print cartridges. I understand how frustrating it must be to deal with ink leakage.

In this case, I recommend checking directly with the point of purchase where you obtained the cartridges. They should be able to verify the integrity of the product and provide a replacement if the cartridges are defective or incomplete.

Hi Kuroi,

Thank you for your reply!

The issue isn’t the cartridges.  There is a silicon pad or washer that sits on the foam pad on the printer side, not the cartridge itself.  That silicone washer is missing.  That’s why the black ink leaked.  The silicone washer probably came off during a cartridge change.  I need those silicone washers for all four cartridge locations.

Thank you!

Mike
