macOS 12.0 Monterey

My HP8610 is printing a bit off center so I went to align it and I keep getting messages that the ink cartridges are low or counterfeit.  I've replaced them all with genuine HP cartridges and the problem persists.  Any thoughts?

I see that you are facing an issue with your printer cartridges.

I tried updating the firmware through my HP Smart app - no luck.  So I went to do it from the printer.  I get the message "The printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed.  Error Code 0xc19a0013

I was able to reset the printer head in the printer itself but I continue to get the messages telling me my ink is low, that I need to align the paper, that I have counterfeit cartridges......

 

This printer is probably 10 years old.  Perhaps I just need to get a newer one.
