Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello

I have a small issue that is really annoyed. Sometimes my printer i dont know why and what is the problem start to print a test page with the mobile phone on it and doesnt stop even i remove the papers , close the power etc. When i open again it starts print the same page all over again and many times

My printer model is HP DeskJet 4158e. Windows is 10 and mobile phone is android and same tablet

Is any way to stop printing that page all the time? Why do that? Lost connection with wifi? General my printer with laptop and mobile phone is connected via wifi. So my question first is how to stop print that page all the time now and second stop print that page general. Disabled it. Its not the test page from the printer. Is the page that tell you some instructions how to connect via wifi and has a mobile device on top

@thomaskissas33, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Your HP DeskJet 4158e is likely printing the printer information page (Wi-Fi Direct information sheet) repeatedly due to a Wi-Fi connection issue or an unfinished setup process. Here's how to stop it:

Cancel Pending Print Jobs

  1. On your Windows 10 PC, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click your HP DeskJet 4158e and select See what's printing.
  3. Cancel all print jobs by clicking Printer > Cancel All Documents.

Restart the Printer & Devices

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it for 60 seconds.
  2. Restart your PC, phone, and router.
  3. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Disable Automatic Information Page Printing

Your printer might be automatically printing the Wi-Fi Direct instruction page when it detects a connection issue. To disable this:

1. On your Android phone:

  • Open the HP Smart app.
  • Select your printer and go to Advanced Settings or EWS (Embedded Web Server).
  • Look for Wi-Fi Direct settings and disable "Automatic Information Sheet Printing".

2. Via a Web Browser:

  • Find your printer’s IP address (in HP Smart > Printer Settings > Network).
  • Enter it in a web browser to open the EWS settings page.
  • Go to Network > Wi-Fi Direct > Disable "Print Information Sheet Automatically".
  • Save settings and restart the printer.

Reconnect the Printer Properly

1. Forget the printer on your phone and PC:

  • Go to Wi-Fi settings on your phone and remove the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct network.
  • On your PC, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and Remove device.

2. Re-add the printer using Wi-Fi:

  • Open the HP Smart app and re-add the printer using Wi-Fi (not Wi-Fi Direct).
  • Make sure the printer is connected to your router, not directly to your phone.

Final Step: Reset the Printer (If Needed)

If the issue continues, you may need to restore factory settings:

  1. Press and hold the Wireless & Cancel buttons for about 5 seconds until the power light blinks.
  2. Set up the printer again using the HP Smart app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
