The printer is not printing the documents properly. even after replacing the ink catridges, the printing appears if there is no ink. Sometimes, the printing appears so faint that the words are less visible. This has been a consistent problem IO have had with the printer ever since I purchased it.

Hi @JaySithambaram,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP DeskJet 2875 printing faint or blank pages even after replacing the ink cartridges. Let’s go through a few checks.

Step 1: Confirm Cartridges Are Installed Correctly

  • Turn the printer ON.
  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove both cartridges.
  • Check that all protective tape is completely removed from the copper contacts.
  • Reinstall each cartridge firmly until it clicks into place.
  • Close the door and wait for initialization.
  • Even a small piece of tape or a loose cartridge can cause faint printing.

Step 2: Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page

  • On the printer control panel, press the Information (i) button to print a status page.
  • Review the black and color blocks on the page.
  • Check for missing lines, faded areas, or blank sections.
  • If blocks are missing or streaked, continue to cleaning.

Step 3: Run Printhead Cleaning

  • Open the HP app on your computer.
  • Select your printer.
  • Go to Printer Maintenance or Tools.
  • Select Clean Printheads.
  • Print a test page after cleaning.
  • Repeat the cleaning once more if needed (maximum two times).

Note: Excessive cleaning can waste ink.

Step 4: Check Paper Type and Print Settings

  • Open the document and click Print.
  • Open Printer Properties.
  • Set Paper Type to Plain Paper (if using regular sheets).
  • Set Print Quality to Best.
  • Ensure “Draft Mode” is OFF.
  • Confirm Black Ink Only is not selected unless intended.
  • Draft mode often causes very faint output.

Step 5: Manually Clean Cartridge Contacts

  • Remove the cartridges.
  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Gently wipe only the copper-colored contacts.
  • Let them dry for 5 minutes.
  • Reinstall cartridges and test print.

I hope this helps.
