Hi @MikeV7072,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Envy 4520 printer is not printing in color, and the option to toggle grayscale printing is missing. Here are some steps you can follow to resolve the issue:

Check Printer Connection Type:

  • Sometimes, connection and driver issues can affect color printing. Ensure your printer is properly connected to your computer via USB or network.

Re-add the Printer:

  • Remove the printer from your system's "Printers & Scanners" settings and re-add it as a TCP/IP printer. This method can help in resolving driver-related issues that prevent color printing.

Steps to Re-add Printer as a TCP/IP Port Connection:

  • Open "Printers & Scanners" in Windows.
  • Select your printer and click on "Remove" or "Remove Device".
  • Click on "Add a printer or scanner".
  • Choose "Add manually" or "The printer that I want isn’t listed".
  • Select "Add a printer using an IP address".
  • Enter the printer's IP address (find it via the HP Smart app or the printer's control panel).
  • Follow the prompts to finish adding the printer.

Check Color Settings:

  • Ensure color printing is enabled in the HP Smart app or the printing preferences in Windows.

  • HP App:
    • Open the app, click on “Print Documents” or “Print Photos”.
    • Before printing, go to “More settings” and make sure “Color mode” is set to “Color”.

  • Printing Preferences:

    • Go to "Printers & Scanners" in Windows, click on your printer, and select "Printing preferences".
    • On the "Paper/Quality" tab, ensure “Color” is selected.

Driver and Software Update:

  • Ensure you have the latest printer driver installed. You can download the latest updates from https://support.hp.com/us-en.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
