I recently purchased an HP Envy 6455. The test sheet prints color just fine, but only prints grayscale from any and all applications regardless of my print settings from each application. I've seen this problem in other threads, but the offered solutions have not worked (e.g. using HP Smart app to adjust settings. I see no options here for de-selecting grayscale). What's next? Reinstalling print drivers?

Hi @mbrautnick,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you’re dealing with a frustrating issue. Since the test page prints in color but everything else comes out in grayscale, it might be related to the settings in your print driver or software.
Here are some steps you can try:
Check Printer Settings:
- Windows: Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners. Select your HP ENVY 6455, click on Manage, then Printing Preferences. Ensure that the Color option is selected rather than Grayscale.
- HP Smart App: Sometimes, the app settings might be different from the default printer settings. Look for any advanced print settings or preferences that might be set to grayscale.
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- Update Drivers: Go to the HP website and download the latest drivers for your HP ENVY 6455. Install these and see if the issue persists.
- Reinstall Drivers: Uninstall the current printer driver from Control Panel > Devices and Printers, and then reinstall it using the latest version from the HP website.
Check Application Settings:
- Some applications might have their own print settings. Ensure that you haven’t set the application to print in grayscale. This can usually be adjusted in the print dialog box of the application you are using.
Reset Printer:
- Factory Reset: Sometimes a full factory reset of the printer can resolve issues. Refer to the printer's manual for instructions on how to perform this.
Firmware Update: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, updating the firmware can fix bugs and improve functionality.
Refer to this document: HP ENVY Pro 6455 All-in-One Printer User manual
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
