HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

As stated above, my OfficeJet 8035 will no longer print in color. When I Clean the Printhead, the space at the bottom of the page where color boxes should appear is completely white. Printer reports and information pages come out the same. I can't complete an alignment because the printed page is supposed to have color and thus doesn't register with the scanning. I have replaced all of the ink cartridges with Instant Ink cartridges. It did not need any firmware updates when I attempted. I removed the printer from my computer's System Settings and then added it again. I performed a factory reset on the printer and attempted all of these steps again, to no avail. Help!

I have searched the forums for other questions that have gone without a sufficient reply.

Hi @Want2printcolor,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I see that you are facing an issue with print quality on your Printer.

A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

C) If the issue still persists, refer to the steps on this link to further troubleshoot.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

To anyone else having this issue:

None of the suggested replies from HP worked (I had already tried many).

It's clear that the issue was related to a clogged printhead that could not be cleaned through the firmware / software alone. I ordered online a printhead cleaning kit and watched tutorials for directions. After several cleanings and alignments thereafter, it has been fixed!
