Greetings,
I have a HP OfficeJet Pro 9018 printer that has been working fine but the ink was low, or we thought it was low so we bought brand new authentic HP ink from HP. But when we put them in it still says that they are all low. I removed them and put them back in and then it says two are low and one is half full.
Here are the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
1. Made sure that it was the right ink cartridges and that they are in installed correctly in the right order
2. Cleaned the ink contacts and inspected the printers contact points
3. Reset, unplugged and power cycled the printer
4. Checked that it has the most current firmware
I have tired all of these multiple times but sadly it didn't work... Im wondering if it's the printer that is not reading the toner levels properly or if its the toner cartridges themselves, but seems to be a common issue but couldn't find a solution to any of them.

Hi @Takadakyo,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It's frustrating to encounter issues with your printer despite trying various troubleshooting steps. If you've already gone through the steps you mentioned and the problem persists, here are some additional suggestions you can try.
- Update Printer Drivers: Make sure that your printer drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause communication issues between the printer and the computer. Visit the HP official website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.
- Check for Firmware Updates: In addition to checking for firmware updates on the printer, make sure you have the latest software updates for your computer. Sometimes, compatibility issues can be resolved with updated software.
- Perform a Hard Reset: A hard reset involves completely turning off the printer, unplugging it from the power source, and waiting for a few minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on. This can help clear any temporary glitches in the printer's memory.
- Check for Ink Cartridge Expiration: Ensure that the ink cartridges you purchased are not expired. Ink cartridges have an expiration date, and if they are past that date, the printer might not recognize them properly. Check the date on the cartridge packaging.
- Try Another Set of Cartridges: If possible, try using another set of brand-new, authentic HP ink cartridges. This will help you determine if the issue lies with the cartridges or the printer itself.
- Factory Reset: As a last resort, you can consider performing a factory reset on your printer. Keep in mind that this will reset all settings, so you may need to reconfigure your printer after the reset.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
